Sprout Baby vs MamaBee (2026): Price, Features, Privacy

Short answer: Sprout Baby is one of the most complete baby trackers on the App Store, with Apple Watch, Android, nap forecasts and a photo keepsake book, built around a subscription of about $59.99 a year. MamaBee keeps core tracking free with no ads, costs less on Premium, and stores your data on your iPhone. Sprout wins on devices and extras.

We make MamaBee, so keep that in mind. On the App Store, Sprout Baby is listed as "Baby Tracker & Newborn Log" by Med ART Studios, which has been making it since 2012. It's a different app from Nighp's "Baby Tracker - Newborn Log", which we compare here. Sprout's 31,500 US ratings average 4.8 stars, and it was updated as recently as October 23, 2026.

What Sprout Baby does best

It tracks almost everything. Breast, bottle, pumping and solids with timers, sleep, diapers, growth on WHO and CDC charts, milestones, immunisations, doctor visits, medicine, and even mood. It supports multiple children and has a preemie mode.

Sleep Forecast. Sprout predicts upcoming naps from your logged data, the same job MamaBee's Sleep Coach does.

Memories. A photo journal that turns into a PDF keepsake book. If you'd like your tracker to double as a baby book, Sprout does it and MamaBee doesn't.

Every device. iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch (with double-tap), Mac, Android, Siri Shortcuts, interactive widgets and Live Activities on the lock screen.

Family sharing on one purchase. Devices that join your family share one subscription, and iPhone and Android can sync with a PIN.

A long track record. Many reviewers say they've used it through two or three children.

Where Sprout Baby stops

It's built around a subscription. The current US listing shows Premium at $59.99 a year or $14.99 to $19.99 a month, plus a $5.99 weekly option. Sprout's help centre says that after a subscription ends you can still view your data, but you can't add new entries.

It needs a recent iPhone. The current version requires iOS 18.6 or later.

Your data lives on its servers. Sprout backs up to its own servers. Its App Store privacy label lists health and fitness data, contact info, photos and sensitive info as linked to your identity. It doesn't list any data used to track you, which is to its credit.

Sync isn't flawless. In the 100 most recent US reviews we could read (December 2024 to February 2026), the most common complaints were sync failures and having to restore lost data. Most reviews were still five stars.

Where MamaBee is different

Core tracking is free and stays free. Sleep, breastfeeding with left/right timers, bottles and pumping, diapers, growth with WHO percentiles, health, vaccines and 45+ CDC milestones. Two-caregiver sync and full export are free too. No ads on any tier.

Premium is cheaper. $49.99 a year or $4.99 a month, against Sprout's $59.99 a year or $14.99 or more a month.

Things Sprout doesn't have. Bee AI answers your 3 AM questions using your baby's own log. The Solid Food Allergen Test structures allergen introduction with a 3-day reaction timer.

MamaBee timeline screen
MamaBee's free timeline: the whole day of feeds, naps and diapers at a glance.

Local-first privacy. Your logs stay on your iPhone unless you turn on Co-Parent Sharing. We never sell data or use it to train outside AI.

It runs on older iPhones. MamaBee needs iOS 17.6, a year older than Sprout's minimum.

Free core tracking, cheaper Premium, and your data on your phone: try MamaBee.

Where MamaBee loses

  • No Apple Watch, iPad or Android yet. Sprout has all three today.
  • No photo journal or keepsake book.
  • No Live Activities, Siri logging or preemie mode.
  • No pregnancy app. Sprout has a separate, popular pregnancy tracker.
  • We're new. Sprout has 13 years and 31,500 ratings. We have a handful.

Which should you choose?

Choose Sprout Baby if you want an Apple Watch or Android app, a photo keepsake book, preemie support, or you're coming from Sprout's pregnancy app and like its style.

Choose MamaBee if you're on iPhone, you don't want a subscription just to keep logging, and you'd like AI help and allergen tracking available when you need them, for less than Sprout charges.
